We awarded Flexfit CIC a grant of £7,348
We funded this service, so Flexfit could provide groups for elderly and frail people tot undertake yoga, adapted yoga and a number of different activities to benefit their physical health.
They focused on increasing neuroplasticity with the people they supported, which is the science behind building brain pathways to improve concentration, energy, health, learning, cognition and recovery.
The session also aimed to support people to reduce stress. Most sessions were provided without charge, to help individuals from deprived communities, plus those who have lost employment due to a long-term health conditions.
After six months of being in action, the programme has served a wide range of individuals with physical, neurological, respiratory, psychological, and developmental conditions. Referrals came through a variety of established community and healthcare channels, ensuring strong pathways into support services:
- Community groups and grassroots organisations
- Marketing and promotions targeted at health-specific networks
- Parkinson’s support groups, Stroke Groups, and CVST
- General Practitioners (GPs) and allied healthcare professionals
The experts from the organisation have also actively engaged in developing a formal exercise referralprogramme to strengthen referral routes, as well as communication with community and health partners.
This multi-channel approach ensures that people with diverse needs have been identified early and connected with the appropriate support.
The people they helped were living with the following:

- Stroke survivors – requiring movement, hand-eye coordination work, and strength rebuilding through tailored exercise and yoga.
- Parkinson’s disease – benefiting from structured movement to reduce tremors and develop fluidity in motion.
